Wave Geometry and Interpart Link in NX CAD

In this Tech Talk, Bryan will discuss Wave Geometry and Interpart Links, exploring their applications, advantages, and disadvantages. The session will cover the differences between Promote Body and Wave Link, along with techniques for relinking wave geometry. Additionally, we will delve into key Wave processes, such as Design in Context, where geometry in one part references another to form associative relationships within assemblies, enhancing design efficiency and flexibility.

For example, faces from one part are used to define a profile for a swept body in another part.

  • Part in Process: The ability to represent the various states of a part as it is modified during the steps of a manufacturing process.
  • Design in Context: The states are linked associatively so that changes to the part at an earlier stage in the process are seen by the later stages.
  • WAVE Engineering: Process whereby a (typically small) assembly, termed a Control Structure, is used to define the key dimensions, datums, and interfaces of a product.
  • Design Skeleton: The control structure serves as a skeleton for the high-level conceptual product design. This skeleton can be modified to evaluate different design concepts.
