A pioneer in the watersports industry, EWAKE has created waves with their revolutionary three-jet electric jet boards. These cutting-edge electric personal watercraft (PWCs) have quickly revolutionized the industry with Solid Edge as a major ally.
EWAKE was started by CEO and watersports enthusiast Peter Ruwe, who was inspired by his love of wakeboarding, sailing, surfing, and white-water kayaking. Peter’s 2020 purchase of a jet board served as the impetus for the company’s founding and gave rise to the concept of electrifying watersports. Since then, EWAKE has developed into a major force in the industrial production sector, working in tandem with Siemens and other leading companies in the sector to maintain the highest standards of quality.
A jet board is an advanced electric personal watercraft (PWC) that requires careful engineering and design, according to Ruwe. EWAKE’s boards are powered by brushless electric motors and efficient batteries, as opposed to conventional gasoline-fueled boards. According to Ruwe, “Our boards are unique because they are completely made of carbon; they are the lightest, fastest, and smallest boards available on the market.” They are unique in that they are the only producer of boards with three parallel jets, which offer better handling and balance in addition to raw power. This design concept, which recognizes that shorter boards frequently translate into quicker rides, is in line with EWAKE’s tagline, “greed for speed.”
It was difficult for EWAKE to create boards that would satisfy demanding market requirements and endure rough sea conditions. “We initially made the boards by hand, the old-fashioned way,” says Ruwe. However, the growth of batteries, the need for electric motors, and the rise in consumer demand for our carbon boards made the use of specialized equipment essential for both product development and manufacturing. We choose to utilize Siemens’ Solid Edge.
The entire development process was streamlined thanks in large part to Solid Edge, which cut the time to market from three months to only six weeks. The handcrafted board was reverse-engineered into a digital model as the initial stage.
Ruwe and his colleagues used a 3D scanner to create a polygon model as a result. It was necessary to convert this so-called facet body into a solid model. To accomplish this effectively, Solid Edge provides a comprehensive toolkit,” adds Ruwe. Moreover, Solid Edge offers a complete CAD modeling, wiring, flow simulation, and CAM solution.
The carbon fiber raw components for the EWAKE boards are made by Faserschmiede, a provider that helps EWAKE with CAD design and fabrication. According to Markus, the proprietor of Faserschmiede, “we used the Solid Edge CAD data provided directly in our own CAD and CAM software for production and manufacturing.” “The team can quickly coordinate and implement design changes with the customer with the aid of Teamcenter Share.”
Before the boards were released onto the market, EWAKE used Solid Edge’s FLOEFD for simulation to verify their performance. They were able to reduce energy usage by 15% as a result of optimizing their jet propulsion system. Redesigned prop nozzle improved speed and balance thanks to the ability to simulate water flow and determine rotation for each jet power box.
The development team of a water sports product naturally benefits from being able to swiftly transfer the knowledge acquired from test runs. Teamcenter communicate is a great method to communicate your work, especially if you’re working remotely on-site at the lake, says Ruwe. “We realized customer requirements faster and cut production times by 35% with Solid Edge and Teamcenter Share.”
According to EWAKE, jet boards with elegant shapes and real wood will be commonplace in the future while upholding excellent technological standards. EWAKE continues to set the standard for cutting-edge and complex watersports as customers want for distinctive, high-tech products that stand out both on and off the water.
To sum up, EWAKE’s partnership with Solid Edge has introduced cutting-edge electric jet boards to the market and demonstrated how technology can revolutionize watersports. EWAKE serves as a tribute to the success that may be attained via forward-thinking design, cutting-edge technology, and smart alliances as the industry develops.
